I was watching a show on MBC made by Fluid Production in Jordan.

Show how people are speaking English between each other, instead of Arabic.

It was a shocker to me, I did experience the same thing when I was in Jordan last year.

Seriously people will say

"Ana raye7 akhod Shower"

Instead of
"Ana reya7 akhod 7amam"

It sound stupid when they mix the English into Arabic language.

I hated when they try to speak to me in English, Am Arab, I speak Arabic, We are not in the USA or any other country that speak English only.

One thing on the show that really kinda made me thing twice about the parents that allowing this.

A parent was like, the Arabic school are weak, that's why I have my daughter in an English school.

IS HE SERIOUS, from what i know arabic public school are 100 times stronger than any american school. from experience ...

What you guys think?

Cami, from what I understand, these schools are in Jordan, right? Then the opposite should have been true, the Arabic schools should be the stronger and more productive ones instead of the English ones there.

Same thing has happened in Mexico -- the "English" based schools have more enrollment then the authentic Mexican schools and of course the teachers are paid more in the 1st. Thus the parents "think" they are better Not so sad to say.

I'm just thinking its the propaganda the media feeds the people

If this what bothers you cami I promise I'll establish 10's of those "Classic Arabic" Schools if I returned to there one day, you just - cross your fingers - wish that was the biggest problem over there..

i do a bit of mixing but only when am speaking arabic .. sometimes i do forget a particular arabic word but that's because i've lived outside lebanon 18yrs and only been back there for three weeks in the entire time lol am not doing too bad

but as u briefly mentioned, it is all about the parents, especially ones living outside arab countries, at home we could only communicate in arabic with our parents and were forced to communicate in arabic between us (siblings).. when i went to lebanon last year for the first time in 17yrs some ppl were making jokes that i had deep beiruty accent, they weren't expecting that lol

there was an article on the net a while back about italians and the word they mostly used was "weekend" and they declared a day everyone has to speak italian with no english phrases like weekend lol

Look .. In The Example You Gave Us, There Are 3 Words In Arabic And A Word In English. Still The Person Is Speaking In Arabic Not English.

Why Does It Sound Stupid To Mix Languages Friend. Wether You Want It Or Not, French And English Are The Most Powerful Languages. Right Now, You Wrote This Thread In English, Why ? Because Internet Speaks English.

The Person Who Said That English Schools Are Better Than Arabic Schools Is Totaly Right. Public Schools Are Increasingly Delivering Bad Quality Programs, I Have Proofs On That.

Still This Is My Own Opinion And I Respect Yours.

I Respect Your Point Of View Friend. However, Let Me Disagree On Something. English Schools Are Truely Better Than Public Ones. At Least Here Where I Live. And When We Say, Better Paid Teachers, We Should Expect That They're Motivated To Give The Best !
